Central Division

Functions
Patrol Squads The 64 Patrol Officers in Central Division primarily respond to calls for service from citizens. Those calls may result in criminal investigations, citations, arrests or merely the exchange of information. Officers also remain alert for traffic violations or criminal offenses that occur in their presence and are responsible for appropriately enforcing the law in those instances.

Community Resource Team CRT members are responsible for solving long-term problems, criminal or non-criminal, that threaten deterioration in the quality of life for our citizens, merchants and visitors. The CRT members complement the services rendered by patrol and augment the Investigative Squad. These officers are specialists in crime prevention techniques. To find information about organizing a Neighborhood Watch program or to schedule a safety survey of your business or residence, contact Sergeant C. Blaylock.

Center City Resource TeamThe primary responsibility of the CCRT is to provide a high degree of visibility in the Central Business District, to be accessible to merchants and the general public in an effort to reduce incidents of crime, and to respond to calls for service within the area. To find out further information about the CCRT, please contact Sergeant S.L. Hunter.

Parking Enforcement Four non-sworn personnel patrol the downtown business district and the college campuses of UNCG and A&T Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. They enforce parking on city streets, parking decks and city owned parking lots. They are also used for special events downtown as well as at the coliseum. The parking enforcement section responds to any area of the city to address parking complaints and to explain parking ordinances to citizens. The parking enforcement section can be contacted at 373-2648, or for further information contact Sergeant G.M. Little.

Administrative Staff Non-sworn personnel support police functions by assisting in investigations, processing crime data and generating statistics that help identify trends in criminal activity.
