Vice/Narcotics

Functions
The Greensboro Police Vice/Narcotic Unit consists of 16 detectives, two sergeants, a lieutenant and a captain. The unit has one non-sworn support person. The unit’s primary focus is the investigation of narcotic traffickers. The unit has two K-9s trained in the detection of drugs. Detectives in the unit also investigate prescription drug fraud, ABC violations, gambling, and prostitution. Two detectives are assigned to work with the DEA and one with the ATF.

Vice This squad is responsible for the enforcement of vice laws and the investigation of vice activities of an organized or commercial nature, such as gambling, prostitution, and liquor law violations.

Narcotics
This squad is responsible for the investigation of illegal narcotic and controlled substance sales, possession, and use, including illegal use of prescription drugs. It also conducts special education and enforcement programs targeted at drug abuse reduction.
