The Guilford County area is a major hub for narcotic activities due to its geographic location and access to major interstates. Over the past several years, the Greensboro Police Department has consistently been one of the top agencies in asset and narcotic seizures in North Carolina.

The most frequently used drug in Greensboro is marijuana, followed by cocaine / crack. Greensboro has five colleges and a large rave crowd, which has attracted dealers of hallucinogenic drugs such as Ecstasy (MDMA), mushrooms, LSD, and GHB. Heroin has also seen a dramatic rise in use.

Methamphetamine production and use are also on the increase in Greensboro. Meth labs are extremely dangerous and produce toxic byproducts.
