Parking Violations

When parking in Greensboro, follow these guidelines to avoid a ticket.

Never park in a:

  • Handicap space without your handicap placard
  • Handicap striped access area

These are subject to a $250 fine or towing.



Never park your vehicle:
  • In a tow-in zone or "No Parking Anytime" zone
  • Within five feet of a fire hydrant
  • In loading zones for more than the time allowed -- one hour for commercial license plates, 30 minutes for non-commercial
  • In a passenger loading area, except when someone stays in the vehicle to pick up a passenger
  • Within five feet in either direction of a driveway or alleyway
  • Within 25 feet of an intersection
  • Where it will exceed the specified time in controlled residential parking areas without permits
  • On City streets if the vehicle is oversized, more than 80" wide, or 30' long

These violations are subject to a penalty of $25 or towing.



Also, be sure not to:
  • Exceed the specified time in metered or timed parking spaces
  • Park facing opposing traffic
  • Obstruct a sidewalk or crosswalk

These violations are subject to a $5 penalty.
