Parking Violations

When parking in Greensboro, follow these guidelines to avoid a ticket.
Never park in a:
- Handicap space without your handicap placard
- Handicap striped access area
These are subject to a $250 fine or towing.
Never park your vehicle:
- In a tow-in zone or "No Parking Anytime" zone
- Within five feet of a fire hydrant
- In loading zones for more than the time allowed -- one hour for commercial license plates, 30 minutes for non-commercial
- In a passenger loading area, except when someone stays in the vehicle to pick up a passenger
- Within five feet in either direction of a driveway or alleyway
- Within 25 feet of an intersection
- Where it will exceed the specified time in controlled residential parking areas without permits
- On City streets if the vehicle is oversized, more than 80" wide, or 30' long
These violations are subject to a penalty of $25 or towing.
Also, be sure not to:
- Exceed the specified time in metered or timed parking spaces
- Park facing opposing traffic
- Obstruct a sidewalk or crosswalk
These violations are subject to a $5 penalty.
