Armed Assault on Police Officers

Greensboro Police detectives are investigating an armed assault on three Greensboro Police officers that occurred last night. At approximately 11:53 pm, officers responded to 1405 Mayfair Avenue in reference to a reported robbery of person in progress. When officers arrived on the scene they were confronted by three armed suspects. At least one of the suspects fired at the officers. One officer returned fire, but the suspects fled without being hit by the gunfire.

The suspects fled the scene in a black Cadillac, and a vehicle pursuit began. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot near Lutheran Street. Officers continued to search for the suspects and two suspects were located on East Market Street near Gillespie Street where they were arrested without incident.

The suspects have been identified as: Fletcher Frank Marshall, BM/19, 1718 Boone Street, and Adam Deandre Marshall, BM/16, 1718 Boone Street. A third suspect is believed to be still at large. The suspects in custody have been charged with kidnapping, armed robbery, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm by a felon, and numerous traffic charges.

In addition there were outstanding warrants on Fletcher Marshall for communicating threats, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

It is believed that the suspects were holding a female against her will when officers arrived on the scene. The investigation is continuing, and the officers were not injured. Persons with information are asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 373-2255 or Crime Stoppers at 373-1000.
