Arrest in Caldwell Homicide Investigation
A suspect wanted for murder in Greensboro has been arrested in Flagstaff, Arizona. At approximately 5:30 am local time, Juan Carlos Olivo Ramirez, 27, was arrested by United States Marshals, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special Agents and Flagstaff Police Officers.
Ramirez was wanted by Greensboro Police for the Christmas Day 2006 fatal stabbing of April Dawn Caldwell, 17, at her residence at 4234-B United Street.
Ramirez had fled since the incident and has been pursued by U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force at locations throughout the United States and Mexico. This case was profiled last month on the TV series “America’s Most Wanted.”
The arrest was the result of tips being provided to police and the pursuit of other investigative leads. He was living under an alias name of Miguel Sosa. He is being held in Flagstaff pending extradition back to North Carolina.
