Community Relations
The Community Relations Division of Public Affairs serves as an advocate to help residents resolve issues or concerns that are expressed to City Council or City Management. Staff in the Community Relations office also conduct research when needed to help answer residents' questions.
Community Relations offers an outreach program to teach new residents, immigrants, and refugees about City services. The Division also partners with community organizations to ensure inclusion and a smooth transition for those who are making new homes in Greensboro.
Community Relations manages the City's compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which includes auditing City facilities, programs and services for accessibility and serving as the City’s representative on the Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities.
The Community Relations Division is also responsible for administering and facilitating the premier government educational program, Government Works: A City Academy. This two and a half month program teaches participants about all aspects of City government, while seeking to develop future leaders and build a better community through well-informed and civically-engaged residents.
