City Council Selects New City Manager

Greensboro City Council has announced the selection of Rashad Young as the new city manager. The decision concludes an extensive, national recruiting and interviewing process. Young will Rashad Young Photoassume his role on October 16 at an annual base salary of $179,500.

“I consider it an honor and I look forward to immersing myself and my family in this community,” said Young. “I want residents to know they’ll see a lot of me and that their city manager is working hard for them.”

Young, who is currently city manager of the City of Dayton (Ohio), will serve as the chief executive officer of the City of Greensboro, charged with providing administrative leadership to staff, carrying out the policies, programs, ordinances and resolutions approved by Council and overseeing all City operations.

He brings more than 10 years experience working in local government to his new role. Previous work experience includes several executive positions for the City of Dayton including assistant city manager, director of human resources and deputy director of information and technology services. He also served as assistant city manager of the City of Cincinnati (Ohio). 

Young holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s degree in business administration, both from the University of Dayton.

Bob Morgan, who has been interim city manager for the past several months, will return to his post as deputy city manager.
