Vial of Life

The "Vial of Life" is a national project being implemented in the Greensboro and Greater Greensboro community by the Services to Seniors Committee of the Commission on the Status of Women. The Vial of Life allows individuals to maintain their vital medical information (medications, ailments, contact person, primary language, primary physician, and advance directives) in a location that is easily accessible to emergency personnel during a health-related crisis or accident. "The Vial of Life will speak for you when you can't."

What's in the Vial of Life?

      • A form to record pertinent medical and other vital information.
      • Vial of Life magnet.
      • Plastic baggie.

Where is the Vial of Life stored?

      • The completed form is inserted in the baggie.
      • The baggie is stored on the top shelf of the refrigerator.
      • The Vial of Life magnet is placed on the refrigerator door.

What's the purpose of the Vial of Life magnet?

The magnet serves as an alert to emergency professionals, family members or caregivers that the individual's medical information is in the refrigerator. The information can also be taken to doctor appointments, on trips and vacations.
