Customer Service for Residents and Businesses
New Water Service or Transferring Water Service
To obtain water and sewer service, an application (pdf) must be completed. Both owners and tenants must pay a $15 non-refundable service charge. In addition, residential tenants must pay a $100 deposit ($115 total).
To transfer service, you must also complete the application (pdf) and submit the service charge if buying, or service charge and deposit if renting. Be sure to include your previous address and the date you want the water turned off at that location near the bottom of the application. If you were renting at your previous address, the deposit you paid will be applied to the final bill at that address, and Water Resources will send a refund check for the remainder to your n
ew address.
The $15 non-refundable service charge will be waived for landlords with rental property who complete the CIS Landlord Form (pdf).
Applications can be filled out at the J. Edward Kitchen Operations Center, 2602 South Elm Eugene Street, Greensboro. Proper identification (picture ID) is required. Tenants must also bring the name and address of their landlord. Applications may also be mailed with a check for the service charge (and deposit if tenant). Water Resources requests the notice of water cut-on one day in advance. Please allow three to five days if the application and payment are sent by mail.
