How many gallons of water are in a unit (ccf)?
One ccf is 100 cubic feet of water, or 748 gallons.

What is the billing and availability fee?
The billing and availability fee helps cover the cost of billing (reading water meters, printing and mailing the bills). This charge also helps guarantee the availability of water and sewer. The funds help purchase water from other cities and help pay for preventive maintenance projects to Greensboro's water and sewer system.

Do you offer an equal payment plan?
No, but we do encourage customers who are billed quarterly to divide their average bill by three and pay monthly installments if they have trouble meeting the full amount of a three-month bill. Payments can also be made as often as weekly or bi-weekly payment regardless of whether you are billed quarterly or monthly.

I have a financial crisis and cannot pay my utility bill.  What can I do?
Contact the Water Resources Customer Service Division at 373-2344 to discuss utility payment arrangements.

This month I have a large water bill.  What should I do?
During your regular meter reading, unusually high consumption may be an indication of one of the following problems: leak in commode tanks, leaky faucets, leak in main house shut off, or underground leaks. Reading your meter is a good way to check for leaks in your home. Turn off all of the water in your home and look at your meter. If the needling is turning, you have a leak.  If you have questions, contact Water Customer Service at 373-2344.

Can I change my billing cycle and billing payment schedule?
No. Billing cycles and payment schedules cannot be changed.

What is wastewater?
Wastewater is sewage. This charge covers transport and treatment of sewage from residential and commercial sources. Treated wastewater is safely released into streams.

What is the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Fee?
This fee is for the operation and management of the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 2750 Patterson Street, where citizens can properly dispose of hazardous materials such as paint, batteries, or other chemicals.
