Drain Markers
Greensboro's storm drains lead directly to our lakes and streams. Harmful pollutants enter storm drains and harm aquatic life in our streams. Many of these streams eventually drain into water supply lakes.

You can help preserve Greensboro's limited water resources by participating in the Drain Markers program. Volunteers in the program glue small signs that read "Don't Dump -- Drains to Lakes and Creeks" to storm drain covers.

The Stormwater Management Division provides all the supplies, as well as a training video for this fun and easy project that has lasting value. Volunteers are also given plenty of fish-shaped door hanger brochures to hand out in their project area, to explain the Drain Marker program to others.
