Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) update

New review process for revising FIRMs
North Carolina now assumes the responsibility of reviewing requests for Conditional Letters of Map Revision (CLOMRs) and Letters of Map Revision (LOMRs) to a community's FIRM. Previously, all requests for CLOMRs and LOMRs from North Carolina were reviewed by a private consultant retained by FEMA.
Effective immediately, MT-2 applications (CLOMRs or LOMRs) in North Carolina, whether they are local governments or private developers, will mail their requests to the State of North Carolina. The application forms remain the same as the existing FEMA application forms and are available on both FEMA’s website and the State’s website at www.ncfloodmaps.com.
For further information regarding the new review process, contact John Gerber, PE, CFM, NCFMP Engineer, 1812 Tillery Place, Raleigh, NC 27604, (919) 715-5711, ext. 106, jgerber@ncem.org, or visit the North Carolina Flood Mapping Program website at www.ncfloodmaps.com.
