Waste Disposal
The City of Greensboro operates a solid waste transfer station for the disposal of residential and commercial trash. Other waste, such as yard waste and construction debris, are disposed of at the White Street Landfill.
City of Greensboro and Guilford County residents can take their household hazardous waste and electronic waste to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center located at 2750 Patterson St. Operating hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and on Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm. Details You Should Know On August 4, 2009, North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources issued an update on materials currently prohibited at landfills or incinerators. Effective October 1, 2009 the North Carolina General Statues G.S. 130A-309.10 expanded the list of prohibited materials to include whole scrap tires, lead-acid batteries, beverage containers required to be recycled under 18B-1006.1, motor vehicle oil filters, recyclable rigid plastic containers, and wood pallets.
