Appliances and Tire Disposal The City of Greensboro does not dispose of appliances and used tires. Additionally, appliances and used tires are forbidden in the City’s landfill and transfer station. However, both products may be disposed of at the Guilford County facility at 2138 Bishop Road, which is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. The phone number is 336-294-9431. This program is administered by the Guilford County Planning and Development Department, and they can be reached at 336-641-3792. The former facility on West Market Street is closed.
Residents may bring a limited number of regular size automobile and truck tires for disposal at no charge. Businesses and waste haulers may also use the facility, provided they are appropriately registered and bring the appropriate regulatory paperwork for each tire load. Tires that are not eligible for free disposal will incur a fee of $0.73 per passenger vehicle tire, $3.65 per heavy truck tire, or $0.0365 per pound for oversize tires (weight tickets are required).
