Stormwater Maintenance

Open Channel MaintenanceOpen Channel Maintenance

The Open Channel Maintenance section is responsible for performing stream maintenance projects and preventive maintenance activities within the city limits. Examples of the operations performed include: cleaning, clearing, and restorations of streams and channels; tail ditch work installation and maintenance of Rip Rap; and other miscellaneous erosion control measures and maintenance functions related to the open channels. The crews also support pipe maintenance construction projects, catch basin top replacements, and manhole ring and cover repairs. There are two crews assigned to this service, with a total of 15 crew members assigned to the teams. This includes two vactor crews who are under the supervision of a Super Team Leader.

The pipe maintenance crews are responsible for performing new construction and repair projects along with preventative maintenance activities on the City's closed storm water infrastructures. Examples of the types of projects undertaken include: new pipe installation, repair and upgrades of existing pipes, pipe cleaning projects, catch basin cleaning, catch basin repair, catch basin construction, manhole repair and construction, erosion control projects, spill/hazard responses, cave-in projects, tie-in inspections and permits, and other miscellaneous maintenance functions related to the storm water pipe and related infrastructures. The crews also support open channel maintenance projects, as needed. There are three crews assigned to this service, with 17 members assigned to the teams.
