Remember these annual environmental recognition dates:

Earth Day, April 22

America Recycles Day, November 15
The cities of Greensboro and High Point, along with Guilford County, are again laying the groundwork for the yearly Kids, Cans & Ca$h recycling challenge. The Kids, Cans & Ca$h recycling challenge is open to all elementary school children in Guilford County. This fun, environmentally educational event is held each year to call attention to America Recycles Day, recognized on November 15 annually.

In the challenge, the three schools that deliver the most pounds of clean, dry aluminum cans to the participating material recovery facilities in Greensboro or High Point during the two-week collection period will win special prizes including a trophy and a pizza party for their school. Each school gets to keep the money raised from their aluminum cans and to use it however it likes.

The 2007 Guilford County elementary school
Kids, Cans & Ca$h winners were Alamance Elementary School (600+ students), Shadybrook Elementary School (400-599 students), and High Point Christian Academy (less than 399 students).
