Utility Payments
The City of Greensboro provides basic utility services, including water and wastewater service, stormwater management, solid waste collection and disposal, and disposal of household hazardous waste.
Residential and commercial properties are billed for these services on a City Services Billing Statement, which is generated and mailed monthly or quarterly, depending on assigned cycle.
Paying Your Utility Bill To make payments in person, visit the Melvin Municipal Office Building at 300 W. Washington St. or the J. Edward Kitchen Operations Center at 2602 S. Elm-Eugene St. If you have questions about your utility bill, call 336-373-CITY (2489) or visit the Water Resources Department at the Kitchen Operations Center.
Paying Your Utility Bill by Drop Box The City offers two drop boxes for City payments:
- J. Douglas Galyon Depot Transportation Center, 236-C E. Washington St. in the Greensboro Transit Authority lobby, accessible between 5:30 am and 11 pm every day
- J. Edward Kitchen Operations Center, 2602 S. Elm-Eugene St., left of the building's front entrance, accessible seven days a week, 24-hours a day.
No cash payments may be deposited in the drop boxes; only checks or money orders are accepted. All payments must include a payment stub to ensure proper credit. Payments will be posted by 5 pm on the next business day following deposit.

There is a $25 processing fee for all returned checks.
