Redevelopment Commission of Greensboro (RCG)
The Redevelopment Commission of Greensboro was incorporated in 1951 to conduct studies, formulate plans, and implement redevelopment projects for blighted areas within the city. It is established under and regulated by NC General Statutes and the Greensboro Development Ordinance.
The Commission carries out activities subject to the consent, approval, and policies of the City of Greensboro and in accordance with Community Development Block Grant Applications and Programs, Redevelopment Plans for locally funded redevelopment projects, and / or state and local laws. Such activities include, but are not limited to:
- Acquisition of real estate
- Clearance, demolition, and / or rehabilitation of building and improvements on property owned by the commission
- Disposition of any real property acquired
- Provision of relocation payment and assistance in accordance with the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policy Act
- Compliance with North Carolina Urban Redevelopment Law.
The Commission is made up of five members, appointed by Council for five-year terms, who must be residents of the city. It meets the second Wednesday of each month at 5 pm in the Plaza Level Conference Room, Melvin Municipal Office Building (MMOB), 300 W. Washington St., unless relocated, canceled or rescheduled. Three members constitute a quorum and a majority of the members present may take action on any matter under consideration. Special meetings may be called by the chairperson with 48 hours notice.

The Redevelopment Commission of Greensboro voted at a special meeting on March 9 to revise the meeting schedule so that future regular meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month beginning at 5 pm. Revised meeting dates for 2011 are listed below.
