November 18 Public Hearing Discusses Proposed Change to City's Annual Action Plan
GREENSBORO, NC – (October 29, 2010) – The City of Greensboro's Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is seeking to amend its 2010-2011 Annual Action Plan and will hold a public hearing on the proposal during its Community Resource Board (CRB) meeting on November 18.
The amendment reflects a change in the allocation of federal HOME Program funds from Self Help-Ole Asheboro 2 and Self Help-Ole Asheboro 4 to the replacement of windows in the Nettie Coad Apartments, located at 503 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr.
HCD originally funded Self Help-Ole Asheboro 2 and 4 to build houses in the Ole Asheboro neighborhood. However, there is currently an oversupply of new, unsold houses in the neighborhood and because of the slow housing market, this trend is expected to continue in the near future. So, the City proposes to use these funds to address an existing need for window repairs at Nettie Coad.
The public is welcome to attend the CRB meeting to comment on the proposed amendment. The meeting begins at 3 pm in the Plaza Level Conference Room, Melvin Municipal Office Building, 300 W. Washington Street. City Council is expected to hear comments on the proposed amendment during its December 7 Council meeting. The HOME funds breakdown is as follows: Self Help-Ole Asheboro 2 -- $ 84,167 Self Help-Ole Asheboro 4 -- $264,522 Total: $348,689
Persons planning to attend either hearing and needing an interpreter or other auxiliary services in order to participate should contact Linda Kirkman at 336-373-2349 (voice) or 336-333-6930 (TDD).
