Fishing Program: Higgins Tournament

Fishing is allowed from fishing piers and boats. Annual passes are available and each marina office sells NC fishing and hunting licenses. No bank fishing is allowed.

Boat ramps are available for private boat launches and each lake offers rowboats for rent year-round. Customers may bring their own electric trolling motors or gas powered motors (less than 10 hp) for use on the rental rowboats.

Fish found in the lakes: largemouth bass, black and white crappie, channel catfish, brown and yellow bullhead, yellow perch, chain pickerel, blueguill, redbreast sunfish, pumpkinseed, warmouth, red ear/shellcracker, threadfin and gizzard shad. Bodie bass (hybrid) and striped bass can be found in Lake Townsend.
