GTA Route 15 Yanceyville Street / Brightwood School Road to begin September 1
Beginning September 1, Greensboro Transit Authority will launch a new transit route serving the community. GTA Route 15 Yanceyville Street / Brightwood School Road will offer hourly service from the Depot. Destinations served by Route 15 include Wal-Mart Super Center on Cone Boulevard, Guilford Department of Social Services, American Red Cross, Aycock Middle School, and Rankin and Brightwood Elementary Schools. This route is intended to assist Route 6 Summit Avenue with passenger trips to Wal-Mart and Social Services. Current Route 6 riders who visit these destinations are encouraged to use the more convenient Route 15.

New GTA and SCAT fares take effect July 1, 2008

New GTA and SCAT paratransit fares began July 1, 2008. As part of the previously approved plan, an adult one-way trip on GTA or SCAT has increased by 10 cents, senior citizen and disability one-way trips on GTA have increased five cents, and student fares have increased 10 cents. Transfers on GTA remain free of charge.

For the full listing of fare changes, please visit the fares page.

The three-tiered increases in fares for GTA and SCAT were approved in December of 2006 and January 2007 respectively by the GTA Board and the Greensboro City Council as part of its ongoing commitment to public transportation in Greensboro. Discount passes will continue to be available for transit users that will offer savings of 60 percent or more.

Service Animal Policy
The GTA Board has established a new policy regarding the use of service animals on all fixed-route and paratransit services. Review the policy.

GTA Budget Review Task Force Recommendations

A budget review task force for GTA has conducted a comprehensive review of GTA's current financial and operating conditions, service offerings and future budget and service needs.  Comprised of City Council members and GTA Board Members, the task force has issued a final set of recommendations to the Mayor and City Council.
