Fishing Program: Higgins Tournament

Fishing at the City Lakes

The City Lakes, Lake Brandt, Lake Higgins, and Lake Townsend, offer various fishing opportunities for new and experienced anglers alike. For the competitive fishermen, the lakes host various fishing tournaments throughout the year. The lakes are stocked with largemouth bass, Bodie bass (hybrid), crappie, catfish and sunfish. Fishing is allowed from fishing piers and boats. City Lakes offer annual fishing permits and each marina office sells NC fishing and hunting licenses.

Boat ramps are available for private boats launches and each lake offers rowboats for rent year-round. Customers may bring their own electric trolling motors or gas powered motors (less than 10 hp) for use on the rental rowboats.
