Greensboro's public gardens were developed through the generous support of private contributions to Greensboro Beautiful Inc. and the organization's partnership with the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department. The gardens are open year-round from sunrise to sunset, admission is free.

Tree and PathArboretum

Take a leisurely stroll on the 1.7 miles of paved and natural trails that meander through the gardens and open space at the Greensboro Arboretum. Visitors will find seasonal and annual plants, shrubs, trees, and flowers.

Bicentennial Gardens

Bicentennial Garden was created to commemorate our nation’s bicentennial. Bordered by 1.25 miles of paved trails, the garden's scenic vistas showcase a variety of seasonal and annual plants and flowers, along with sculptures that provide artistic and historic interest.

The Bog Garden
Surface: Concrete / Boardwalk
Traffic: Hiking Only

An elevated boardwalk comprises a half-mile of the 1.06 miles of trails that wind through the Bog Garden. Here, you will find an array of wetland flora, including trees, shrubs, wildflowers and fern species that thrive in wetland ecosystems. The Bog Garden also provides an excellent place for viewing wetland wildlife, such as migratory and indigenous birds.

Gateway Gardens

Welcome to Greensboro's newest botanical garden, Gateway Gardens. Phase 1 construction began in 2009. This phase includes the Main Entrance, parking, Michel Family Children's Garden, Rain Garden, Greensboro Heritage Garden, public artwork and special features. The garden was formally opened to the public in 2011. Future development is underway and includes a Visitor Center, Wedding and Special Events Garden, Japanese Garden, and White Oak Forest.
