Bald EagleBald Eagle Trail (4.1 miles) - Bald Eagle Loop (1.2 miles)
  • Surface: Natural
  • Traffic: Hiking & Biking
  • Amenities: Marina Access
Bald Eagle Trail skirts the shores of Lake Higgins, providing beautiful scenery for hiking and mountain biking. This moderate hike offers opportunities to view unique waterfowl and possibly a bald eagle, the trail’s namesake. It is considered a semi-technical mountain bike ride by the trail sponsor, Greensboro Fat Tire Society, with its rooty sections and hairpin turns. The 1.3-mile loop on the western side of Lewiston Road is an added bonus.

How do I get there?

The Bald Eagle Trailheads are located on Hamburg Mill Road just west of the entrance to Lake Higgins Marina and on Long Valley Road. Parking is available in the small parking lot at the Hamburg Mill Road trailhead and along the road on Brass Eagle Loop near the Long Valley Road trailhead.

Please Note:

The Bald Eagle Trail is designed for the enjoyment of mountain biking enthusiasts and hikers. Cyclists are asked to yield trail right-of-way to hikers. Cyclists are asked to avoid riding after rainfall when the trails are muddy.
