2016 Ghoulash Ad

Ghoulash! is an annual Halloween festival led by the Greensboro Youth Council (GYC). The event is held in downtown Greensboro each October. The festival is a family friendly and spooktacular afternoon full of games, inflatables, face-painting, candy, and more.

Volunteers must be currently enrolled high school students. Shifts are available Friday, October 21, and Saturday, October 22. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Event set-up and break-down
  • Face-painting and tattoos
  • Trick-or-Treat
  • Bingo
  • Inflatable maze
  • Costume contest
  • Photo booth

Sign up now to reserve your spot. 

GYC will only award service-learning hours to volunteers who sign up to assist with set-up and/or clean-up in addition to a shift during the event. Volunteers serving during the second shift will also be
awarded service learning hour as that shift has area clean-up built into the shift time.

GYC members can earn double hours for volunteering during set-up and/or clean-up.

Ghoulash Event Information

Saturday, October 22 from 2-6 pm

Corner of E. Lindsay Street & N. Church Street. Free parking is available at the Church Street Parking Deck 

Recommendations to avoid event street closures:

  • From north of downtown: Take Elm Street to Market Street to Church Street
  • From west of downtown: Take Market Street to Church Street
  • From east of downtown: Take Summit Avenue to Church Street

* These activities are for a small fee.

Costume Contest Information:

The costume contest will be held in the grassy area in front of the Greensboro History Museum's Mary Lynn Richardson Park and Historic Buildings.

Ages Zero to Three
2:30-3 pm Registration
3-3:30 pm Parade & Judging
Ages Four to Six
3-3:30 pm Registration
3:45-4:15 pm Parade & Judging
Ages Seven to 10
3:45-4:15 pm Registration

Ghoulash 13_32016 Ghoulash! Chair, Chehannah Hayden

Chehannah Hayden, a junior at Grimsley High School, will serve as this year's Ghoulash! Chair. As chair, she will be responsible for securing a project staff and supervising them to complete tasks, such as selecting activities and scheduling volunteers. Chehannah is a member of DECA and volunteers at the Natural Science Center. She also enjoys working hard in school.
