Vehicle Ride-Along

Residents can observe police work first-hand through participation as a passenger / observer in a marked police vehicle. Ride with an officer for a period of six hours (between 8 am and 2 am). Safety requires the following rules:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must abide by the conditions of participation and sign this waiver
  • Rides end at 2 am regardless of start time
  • Limit of one ride every six months 
  • One resident per vehicle
  • Requires at least a 24-hour advance notice
  • Dress must be casual and neat.

Bicycle Ride-Along

The next training session for the bicycle ride-along program is 8 am to 4 pm September 13,
at Lewis Recreation Center, 3110 Forest Lawn Dr.
To sign up for the training, complete this application and return via e-mail or regular mail
to GPD c/o Community Relations, 300 W. Washington St., Greensboro, NC, 27402.
Applications must be received by September 5.

Learn about the complex nature and benefits of police work while on bike patrol alongside a GPD officer. Schedule a four-hour ride-along between 7 am and 11 pm. Safety requires the following rules:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must have taken GPD’s bike safety course
  • Must be in good health
  • Must abide by the conditions of participation and sign this waiver.
