The City's Department of Transportation (GDOT) seeks to increase public safety and mobility through the effective planning, construction and maintenance of transportation infrastructure and operation of municipal transit.
Services provided to residents, businesses and visitors include traffic signals and signs, transportation planning, parking, street lighting, sidewalks and bikeways. GDOT also oversees the Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA) public transit system and Specialized Community Area Transportation (SCAT) service for persons with disabilities.

Public Meeting for Florida Street Extension
On May 21, the City's Department of Transportation (GDOT) hosted a public meeting to receive input about the future extension and alignment of Florida Street from Lee Street to McConnell Road.
The public is encouraged to get involved in the process by giving input which will be used to develop project alternatives for future study and analysis. Please complete this survey by June 4.

GDOT has revised its Urban Loop Mapping Tool to now include other major City- and state-planned roadway projects. Simply click on this Road Project Mapping Tool link or in the left column on this page, and enter an address within Guilford County to see how close a property may be to a planned major roadway project.
Lane Closure Fee Changes
Effective July 1 2011, the fee schedule has changed for permits to block a sidewalk and/or street. Learn more on the Lane Closure Section of the Permits page or call the Greensboro Department of Transportation at 373-GDOT (4368).
