Water Resources requires the Utility Services Request Form for Meter and Capacity Use Fees to be completed in order to receive estimates for commercial and bidding purposes. What is the cost to connect to City water?
Meter Fee is based on the size meter you use. (Meter Fee Schedule

Capacity Use Fee
A one-time fee is charged to all buildings and homes built after 1989. Revenue from this fee helps replenish the system capacity used by new customers.

The fee for a home is based on the heated square footage of the building and whether the property is located inside or outside city limits.

The fee for a non-residential building is based on the size of the meter and whether the property is located inside or outside the city.

If there is no water or sewer lateral in place that connects your property to the main, you must hire a private, licensed utility contractor to install the lateral(s). The meter must be purchased separately from the City. The City no longer installs these connections. (Connection Information)

If you live outside the city, other fees may apply plus a Utility Annexation and Development Petition may also be required.

The meter fee is based on the size meter you use. (Meter Fee Schedule)
No capacity use fee is required unless a new lateral line to the water main is installed.

Am I required to have a backflow preventer?
Backflow preventers are required to be installed within 10 feet of non-residential meters and irrigation meters. Backflow devices protect public potable water from contamination due to potential cross-connections, backflows or back siphoning.

What type of backflow preventer do I need?
Above ground Reduced Pressure Zone Backflow Preventers are required for commercial uses and irrigation systems. Visit the Developers and Contractors page for standards on backflow preventers.
