festival2The Water Resources Department's annual Water Festival event at Bryan Park gives more than 500 Guilford County students the opportunity to participate in eight fun and exciting hands-on water activities that support the fifth-grade curriculum.

The goal of the Water Festival is to raise students’ awareness of the importance of our water resources and their role and responsibility in saving water. Water festival activities cover the water cycle, stream erosion and rehabilitation, the City's water distribution system, how weather affects water supply, water treatment chemicals, water conservation, groundwater, water quality, stormwater runoff, water resources engineering, environmental health, the water treatment process, and lake ecology.

festival1To make this event successful, staff from the City of Greensboro, Guilford County, and North Carolina State governments, along with students from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Bennett College, and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, participate each year.
