Youth Sports

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of sports leagues for youth ages 4 through 18. The department’s youth sports programs are designed to provide competitive recreation opportunities that promote skill development, positive interaction, and fitness and well-being.

How to Register

For youth sports programs offered by the Parks and Recreation Department (not through a partnership or rental agreement), the following items are to be completed by the announced registration deadlines in order for a child to participate in a program:PAYS

  • Completion of the program registration form 
  • A copy of the child's birth certificate
  • A copy of the parent's PAYS membership card
  • Payment of the program registration fee.

Baseball

  • Registration: Through February 26
  • Season Dates: April through June
  • League play offered for ages 4-14 (Age determined as of April 30)
  • Program Information 
    • Bitty Ball (Age 4)
    • Rookie League (Ages 5-6)
    • Coaches Pitch (Ages 7-8)
    • Mustang (Ages 9-10)
    • Bronco (Ages 11-12)
    • Pony (Ages 13-14)
      • Schedules and program By-Laws will be available once finalized for the 2016 season.

Basketball

  • League play offered for ages 5-18
  • Registration: October through November 22
  • Season Dates: December through March 
  • Program Contact: Recreation Center of choice
  • Additional basketball opportunities are offered year-round at the Greensboro Sportsplex

Football (Tackle)

  • League play is offered for ages 7-12 (Age determined as of August 31)
    • Pee Wee (Ages 7-8)
    • Mite (Ages 9-10)
    • Midgets (Ages 11-12)
  • Registration: June 15 through July 17 
  • Season Dates: August through November

Girls' Fast Pitch Softball

  • League play is offered through a partnership arrangement with the Greensboro Girls' Fast Pitch Softball Association

In-Line Hockey

  • In-Line Hockey leagues and programs for all ages and ability levels are offered year-round at the Greensboro Sportsplex
