Building Inspections, Plan Review and Soil Erosion Control
The Building Inspections Division provides plan review, permitting and inspections for:
Commercial / Residential Construction Permits
All permits - Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing and required Fire Alarm Systems - require plan review before they are issued. All building construction projects require some type of plans before a building permit can be issued.
Sediment & Erosion Control Permits
The Sediment & Erosion Control Section is responsible for erosion control plan review, grading permits, erosion control inspections, and permanent stabilization of commercial development.
Construction Inspection
A permit is required before any work can be started in the City of Greensboro. The following volumes of the North Carolina State Building Code are enforced:
The new 2012 North Carolina Building Codes effective as follows:
- September 1, 2011: Building, Fire, Fuel Gas, Mechanical, Plumbing
- January 1, 2012: Energy Conservation, Residential
The following codes remain effective until March 1, 2012:
- 2009 Energy Conservation and Residential
The following codes remain effective until June 1, 2012:
