James A. Clark
James (Jim) A. Clark, Esq., serves as the Police Attorney for the Greensboro Police Department. Prior to his current assignment, he was responsible for litigation in land use, real property, tort, and civil rights defense cases. He was assistant counsel for the City's Planning and Community Development Department as well as for the Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment, Advisory Commission on Trees, and Planning Board.
Clark's past legal experience includes serving as an associate attorney in trial and appellate litigation at Dan L. Merrell & Associates, PC in Kitty Hawk for real property, title insurance, and business cases. He also served as lead counsel in state and federal court at Pulley, Watson, King & Lischer law firm in Durham for complex commercial construction and intellectual property litigation.
Clark earned a bachelor of science degree in political science at Columbus State University in Georgia and a juris doctorate from the University of Arkansas's School of Law.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Clark served in the US Navy as a combat systems supervisor and member of the commissioning crew of the USS Osprey. In his spare time, he volunteers aboard the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial.
