The City of Greensboro on December 18 had a discharge of approximately 2,500 gallons of untreated wastewater from its sewer main located at 3800 West Ave. The discharge lasted for about four hours and was due to pipe failure of an eight-inch sewer main. The untreated wastewater entered South Buffalo Creek, tributary of the Cape Fear River basin. The main was repaired using an eight-inch truss pipe to prevent further discharge. Nearby hydrants were opened to flush the creek.
