GPD Joins Partners in Offering Free Services to Unsheltered Community
On Saturday, January 9 from 9 am to 3 pm at Greensboro Urban Ministry, 305 W. Gate City Blvd., officers from the Greensboro Police Department (GPD) are joining representatives from other local agencies to provide free services for the city’s chronically unsheltered population.
The services are part of a continuing partnership to assist Greensboro's homeless people and are expected to draw approximately 300 people.
The event offers free basic health assessments by volunteer medical professionals from Cone Health Care.
Local ministers and members of GPD’s Faith Council will be on hand to help and offer prayers with those who are interested. Cone Health will provide boxed lunches. Participants can also receive clothing donated by community members and collected by partnering agencies.
The agencies participating in this event have long-standing connections with unsheltered individuals. Similar events have been held since 2013.
