Meet Your New Year’s Health Goals with Parks and Recreation

Greensboro Parks and Recreation offers a variety of free or low-cost programs and facilities to help residents keep fit all year round. Check out our fitness centers, workout classes, boxing club, and weight loss support groups help you meet your New Year’s health resolutions.

Fitness Centers
Fitness Rom EquipThe Griffin, PeelerTrotter and Warnersville Recreation Centers and the Smith Senior Center offer fitness rooms with high-quality treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, and weight training equipment, as well as trained staff to ensure a safe environment for teens and adults.
Cost: No commitment is required to become a member. The Senior Center is for ages 55 and over during daytime hours.

Boxing Gym
Punching BagsThe Coach Al Lowe Boxing Club, located at the Lindley Recreation Center, offers an Olympic-size boxing ring, sparring times, free weights and cardio machines, and coaches who are sanctioned by United States Amateur Boxing Inc. Members of the boxing team compete in regional and national amateur and professional matches. Open to residents 12 and older. No experience necessary.
Cost: Membership is $40 per calendar year per person.

Taking off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS)
TOPS is a weight loss support group for adults. It helps people set goals for their weight loss and keeps them accountable. The program focuses on realistic and sustainable changes.
Cost: Free with national membership of $33.50
