Library Hosts Author/War Refugee on February 9
What was it like to be 11 years old, running for your life, losing everything, and looking down the barrel of a gun? Find out at 7 pm Thursday, February 9 at the Greensboro Historical Museum, as the Greensboro Public Library hosts Brima Lamin, author of The Walk. Lamin and UNCG history professor Jeff Jones talk about Brima’s experiences during his four-year journey escaping the Liberian Civil War and immigrating to America.
Individuals impacted by armed conflicts have powerful, poignant, and sometimes amusing stories to share. Hear personal accounts collected as part of the StoryCorpsGSO Project, a collaboration between the Greensboro Public Library and the UNCG Department of History that honor and celebrate the lives of everyday Greensboro residents affected by war.
This event is free and open to the public.
