Volunteers Canvas West Greensboro for Participatory Budgeting
Posted Date: 3/29/2017 4:00 PM
Volunteers from Greensboro’s Participatory Budgeting Project (PB) go door-to-door in City Council District 5 starting at 2 pm April 1 to help educate residents about the PB process and to invite them to Idea Collection meetings planned in April. Neighborhoods in this outreach effort will include Stonesthrow, Twin Lakes and Farmington Forest.

Greensboro is the first city in the south to implement participatory budgeting and the process is now in its second year, or second 'cycle'. Participatory budgeting empowers the community to decide how to spend a portion of the City’s budget. Residents identify projects to help improve their neighborhoods, determine which ideas have the most support for implementation, research costs, and vote to determine how to allocate funding to as many of the proposed projects as possible.

Volunteers are still needed in this effort including outreach organizers, assembly facilitators, budget delegates and more.

Go online for more details, including upcoming events or to volunteer.
