Drama Center Booster Club Hosts Author Talkback and Drama Drink Night April 28
Posted Date: 4/10/2017 1:30 PM

The Booster Club for the Drama Center of City Arts is hosting a Drama Drink Night fundraiser during the April 28 performance of the show “More Fun Than Bowling” at the Stephen D. Hyers Theatre, 200 N. Davie St. Immediately following the show, there will be a conversation with local writer Quinn Dalton, author of the novel “Midnight Bowling,” and the cast of the play. The club will have wine and beer available for purchase at the performance.

“More Fun than Bowling,” is a philosophical comedy by Steven Dietz that uses bowling as a metaphor for life. Jake, the owner of a bowling alley replays the frames of his life and is visited by his teenage daughter, Molly and two deceased wives. But who is that nattily dressed man wearing dark glasses and holding a revolver lurking nearby? The play is part comedy, part mystery, and part Woody Allen film in that the characters talk directly to the audience.

Dalton’s the book has the same theme. There is also a strong father-daughter relationship in both the play and the book that are key plot elements.

Scuppernong Books will have copies of “Midnight Bowling” available for sale at all performances of the show, April 21, 22, 27-29 at 8 pm and April 23 and 30 at 2 pm. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors and $15 for everyone else. Tickets can be purchased online, at the door, or by calling the box office at 336-335-6426.
