Participatory Budgeting Seeks Poll Workers this Fall
Posted Date: 9/20/2017 9:00 AM

Greensboro’s Participatory Budgeting (PB) project needs volunteers to serve as PB poll workers during the PB voting cycle, October 23 to November 18. Volunteers must be 14 or older and must be able to attend a training session at 6:30 pm, Thursday, October 19, at the Central Library, 219 N. Church St. Register to be a PB volunteer online.

Participatory Budgeting is a process that allows Greensboro residents 14 and older to vote on how to spend $500,000 worth of public funds. Residents submitted ideas in the spring, and Budget Delegates have spent the summer months vetting ideas and turning them into proposals. Residents will be able to vote on which proposed PB projects should be funded in their home Council District later this year. PB Poll workers will help set up PB voting at locations citywide, and assist residents who come in to vote.

Visit the Participatory Budgeting website for more information on the process and for a detailed PB voting schedule.

Note: The PB voting cycle is not affiliated with Greensboro municipal election, in which members of City Council are elected by registered voters. For information about the City Council election, contact the Guilford County Board of Elections.
