Posted Date: 9/27/2017 2:00 PM

The Greensboro Public Library hosts the Golden Oldies Radio Show at 7 pm Tuesday, October 3 at the Greensboro History Museum, 130 Summit Ave., as part of the One City, One Book celebration. This event is free and open to the public.

Fun for the entire family, the Golden Oldies Radio Show harkens back to a simpler time when families used to gather around the radio. Revelers can enjoy classic commercials, soap operas, lively sound effects, and professional singers performing live music from the 50s and 60s, including songs of Patsy Cline, Righteous Brothers, Sam Cooke, Carol King, Elvis, and many others.

The show also features these five area performers who have worked professionally in the entertainment industry: Endiah Dennis-Stroud, Kristy Jackson, Rachel Oliver-Cobin, Peter Turner, and Antuan Hawkins.

Stroud-Dennis has appeared in several productions in the Triad. She has also recently released her latest gospel album, "Tailor Made."

Jackson is a Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) award-winning singer/songwriter, whose music has been featured in major motion pictures. She also performers with the all female blues and R&B band "Gate City Divas."

Vocalist, actress, and voice-over artist Oliver-Cobin was lead singer for R&B recording band "Atlantic Starr." She has performed on numerous stages around the world and appeared on several television shows and major motion pictures.

Known as the Children’s Librarian at Greensboro Central Library, Turner has performed in more than 50 professional theatrical productions across the country. He most recently appeared in the Drama Center’s "The Dagger."

Show producer Hawkins, who is new to the Triad, is an actor, playwright, and classically-trained singer. He created the role for Bailey in the world premiere of Samm-Art Williams’ "Conversations on a Dirt Road" and has shared the stage with several national and international recording artists.
