Motorcyclist Dies of Injuries From Crash

A motorcyclist who collided into a vehicle on Bernau Avenue on August 22 has died of injuries sustained in the crash.

Eighteen-year-old Xavier Diggs Watkins was traveling southbound on Bernau Avenue at approximately 11:35 pm when his motorcycle struck a vehicle stopped at red light at the intersection of High Point Road. Witnesses describe the motorcycle as traveling “at a high rate of speed.”

Watkins, 4303 Ludlow Ct., was the sixteenth traffic fatality this year.

No one was charged in the incident. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
