Trash, Recycling, & Bulk Collection Service
The City of Greensboro collects residential trash on a weekly basis. Recycling and bulk trash -- items too large to fit in your trash container, such as furniture -- are collected every other week, on either a red week schedule or a blue week schedule.
Why is recycling and bulk collection every other week instead of weekly?
In order to better meet the collection needs of residents and operate more efficiently and cost-effectively, the City began every other week collection in 2008.
How do I know which day and week my house is serviced?
Visit this Service Finder and type in your address to find your collection day and weekly red or blue calendar or call the City’s Contact Center at 373-CITY (2489).
What other services are offered?
In addition to trash, recycling and bulk waste collection, the City of Greensboro also provides you with:
- Yard waste collection on your assigned service day; no appointment needed
- Appliances collection by appointment; call the City’s Contact Center at 336-373-CITY (2489)
What is bulk trash?
Bulk trash consists of items that are too big to fit in your green trash container, such as furniture, swing sets, and lawn mowers (drained of gas and oil).
Extra bags of trash outside your green container are not considered bulk trash and will not be collected by City crews. If you frequently have more trash than you can fit in your container, you may want to purchase an additional trash container by calling the City’s Contact Center at 336-373-CITY (2489).
