The City of Greensboro is seeking qualified museum exhibit design/build firms to create exhibits for a new memorial to the women of Greensboro and provide temporary, permanent and/or virtual exhibitions honoring the contributions women have made to the history of Greensboro. The physical tribute and exhibit space will be located inside a new Community Building at Barber Park, along Dans Road, off of Florida Street and E. Gate City Boulevard. The designated exhibit space, which will be named the "Ruth Wicker Tribute to Women," will occupy a portion of the facility.
The mission of the Ruth Wicker Tribute to Women is to create opportunities to honor and showcase the contributions of women who have lived, worked, and served in Greensboro. These women have impacted, influenced, transformed, or shaped the rich history of City in a variety of ways such as the arts, science, civil rights, music, activism, education, etc. The Tribute will also provide additional opportunities for the community to engage in genealogical and women’s research.
