Accepts primarily solid waste and bulk trash (such as couches or mattresses). Accepts construction debris at a cost of $44 per ton. The White Street Landfill charges $31 per ton for construction debris and $40 per ton for yard waste. Yard waste should be taken to the White Street Landfill at 2503 White St.

The City of Greensboro Solid Waste Transfer Station does not accept credit or debit cards. Payment may be made by local check (Guilford County or connecting counties only; valid NC Drivers License required) or cash only. Customers may request a waste disposal credit account for use at the White Street Landfill and Transfer Station. To set up a waste disposal account, request a credit application from the scalehouse staff. Applications will be processed and may be approved within 10-14 business days.

Prohibited Materials
The following items may not be disposed of at the Transfer Station: hazardous waste of any kind, appliances, batteries, medical waste, liquid waste, asbestos, aluminum cans, dead animals, tires, fluorescent bulbs, electronic equipment, contaminated soil, oil filters, plastic bottles, and wooden pallets. Fees
The cost of disposing waste is called a tipping fee. This fee varies based on the type and amount of waste to be disposed. The White Street Landfill and Transfer Station do not accept credit or debt cards. Payment may be made by cash or with a local check.

Customers may request a waste disposal credit account for use at the White Street Landfill and Transfer Station. To set up a waste disposal account, request a credit application from the scalehouse staff. Applications will be processed and may be approved within 10-14 days.

Transfer Station
The transfer station accepts municipal solid waste (MSW) and construction and demolition (C&D) at the following rates:

MSW AND C&D
Cars: $10 per trip
All other vehicles: $44 per ton ($12 minimum)

The transfer station does not accept yard waste.

White Street Landfill
The White Street Landfill accepts construction and demolition (C&D) and yard waste at the following rates:

C&D
Cars: $10 per trip
All other vehicles: $31 per ton ($12 minimum)

Yard Waste
Cars: $10 per trip
All other vehicles: $40 per ton ($12 minimum)

The landfill no longer accepts MSW.

By state law, yard waste and MSW must be disposed of separately.

The White Street Landfill and the Solid Waste Transfer Station are closed on the following dates:

Directions to the Transfer Station
Traveling on West Market St. from downtown: Turn left on Chimney Rock Road, go to the traffic light and turn right (transfer station is on the right).

Traveling on West Market St. from Highway 68: Turn right on Chimney Rock Road, go to the traffic light and turn right (transfer station is on the right).

Traveling on I-40 West: Exit onto Gallimore Dairy Road, turn right, go to the traffic light and turn right on Burnt Poplar Road; just before reaching the Chimney Rock/Burnt Poplar intersection, the transfer station is on the left.

Traveling on I-40 East: Exit onto Gallimore Dairy Road, turn left, go to the traffic light at Burnt Poplar Road and turn right; just before reaching the Chimney Rock/Burnt Poplar intersection, the transfer station is on the left.
