2015 Fire Camp Pre-Registration
The Fire Department is now accepting pre-applications to attend its third annual Fire Camp Monday through Friday, July 27-31. Children must be 7-10 years old (as of July 27, 2015). Pre-registration closes April 15. Camp is open to 50 children, with first consideration given to children who have not attended a previous Fire Camp.
Accepted applicants will receive a confirmation letter, along with a detailed packet of information, which must be returned by May 1 with the full payment of $50.
There will be five scholarship slots awarded to applicants in financial need. Applicants seeking scholarships must include a narrative with the pre-registration form stating why they should be considered.
The goal of Fire Camp is to teach children to recognize, reduce, and escape various hazards through the use of interactive animations, hands-on activities, crafts, and games. Firefighters want to teach children how to react to fire and other emergencies, teach them "what not to play with," and how to get out of a house that is on fire.
