Operation Bed Roll Drop-off Locations Now Open
Posted Date: 11/20/2017 10:00 AM
Operation Bed Roll is accepting crocheted plastic bag yarn bed rolls or plarn at collection boxes at all City libraries until January 15. There is also a drop off box at Reconsidered Goods, 2805 Patterson St.

Operation Bed Roll is a collaboration between Greensboro’s Field Operations, Library and Police departments to keep non-recyclable materials out of our landfills – and help some of our neediest residents have a safe place to sleep this winter. The bed rolls provide an insulating layer to prevent the loss of body heat for someone who sleeps on the ground.

Greensboro’s residential recycling program does not accept plastic bags, which can get tangled in sorting machinery at the Recycling Center. Operation Bed Roll does not accept plastic bags. Residents may recycle plastic bags and other plastic wrap or film items at participating local retailers, such as grocery stores. Plastic bags, film, and wrap can include: grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrap, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, zipper lock & other re-sealable bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue.
