More than 20 Greensboro residents have been rewarded with $50 Harris Teeter gift cards for recycling correctly as part of Greensboro’s Recycle and Win program. All Greensboro residents are invited to join the City of Greensboro, Coca-Cola and Harris Teeter in the program and possibly receive a gift card also.
All single-family homes in Greensboro were mailed an informational brochure in June with a “Give it Back” recycling sticker. To participate in the Recycle and Win program, simply place the sticker on your brown recycling container and put your cart on the curb with proper recyclables in it on your collection day. A Prize Patrol team will randomly visit neighborhoods throughout the city looking for recycling carts with the stickers. If your cart has a sticker and contains proper recyclables, you are eligible for a chance to receive $50 in groceries at Harris Teeter.
The Prize Patrol team plans to visit all areas of the city randomly through January 4, 2013. To qualify, the sticker must be on the cart and the items inside the cart must be proper recyclables. Only the following items should be placed in your recycling container:
- Plastic bottles and jugs
- Aluminum, steel and tin cans
- Aerosol cans (remove spray nozzle)
- Glass food and beverage containers
- Newspapers, magazines and catalogs
- Office paper
- Cardboard (unwaxed and uncoated)
- Chipboard and paperboard
- Rigid plastics (hard plastic items such as buckets, laundry baskets, etc.
