Walker Avenue Road Closing Extended to 24-Hours a Day

Beginning on Wednesday, September 10, Walker Avenue between S. Aycock and Warren streets will be closed 24-hours a day to all but local traffic due to the construction of an underground storm sewer. Work is expected to be completed by Friday, September 19.

Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and follow signed detours. The westbound detour route will direct motorists to follow Aycock Street south to Spring Garden, west to Warren Street and back to Walker Aveune. The eastbound detour follows in the reverse direction.
