Police Make Arrests in Connection with Stimpson Death

GREENSBORO, NC -- (January 2, 2009) -- Greensboro Police have arrested two men in connection with the September 16, 2008, death of Jamar Lamont Stimpson, 20, who was found dead in the parking lot of a local restaurant from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police have arrested Justin Ryan Massey, 26, and Frank Jamall Rush, 23. Massey was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, and Rush was charged with felony conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Both suspects have been released on bond. After reviewing the case, the District Attorney's Office has said it will not pursue murder charges in this case.

The Police investigation concluded that on September 16, 2008, the victim and Rush arrived together in the parking lot of the restaurant to meet with Massey to conduct a pre-arranged illegal narcotics transaction. The victim and Rush conspired to rob Massey with a handgun. Massey was armed with a handgun and shot the victim during the commission of the robbery. Rush fled the scene on foot. Massey pulled the victim out of the backseat of his vehicles into the parking lot and fled the scene.
